EnergyBridge: Solar Backup Power and Grid Tie
Keep your lights on during the storm...
Sometimes we can't rely on the utility company to keep our lights on. Wouldn't it be nice if you could take control of the power in your home? When bad weather comes the EnergyBridge will eliminate your worries of losing power. You can silently and safely run those critical loads like your lights, refrigerator, computer, and other essentials. The best part is that the sun recharges your batteries the next day providing a continuous source of power. Our system is less expensive to buy than traditional battery backup and is more powerful than similar sized generators. When power finally comes back on the EnergyBridge continues to work, charging its batteries and even selling the excess power back to the power company.
The EnergyBridge is a hybrid inverter for photovoltaic PV installations where AC is present (Grid-tie) or can be used to provide backup power wherever AC is needed (Off-grid). Use our inverter with solar panels, batteries, fuel-cell, wind or even hydro. Our simple installation allows any user to connect solar and solar backup to their home or business.

FAQs (please refer to the EnergyBridge install manual for additional advice)
Q: Does this system include batteries or PV cells?
A: No, this kit comes with the EnergyBridge inverter, an automatic transfer switch, and a user's manual. However you can always call or email us to ask questions about what equipment you need for your system.
Q: How many batteries do I need, and what specifications should they meet?
A: For backup you need a minimum of 24 Volts worth of batteries. This means you can use two 12 volt 85Ah(amp-hour) lead acid batteries in series to give you 24 Volts. For longer lasting batteries we recommend AGM batteries. If you want longer energy storage you can use four 12 Volt batteries in series giving you a total of 48 Volts. This allows maximum energy harvest of your solar panels.
Q: How many PV (solar) panels do I need, and what specifications should they meet?
A: If you have a 24 Volt battery system, we recommend getting solar panels that are often classified as "12 volt" panels. Your array should be in the 100-500 Watt range. For example you could purchase two 200 Watt solar panels giving you 400 Watts. For 48 Volt battery systems you will need "24 volt class" solar panels. Your array can be anywhere from 100-900 Watts of solar panels. This means you could purchase four 200 Watt solar panels. Simply put, the difference between the 24 Volt system and the 48 Volt system is that your power capabilities double.
